About Visa for Turkey

Q: Is there visa application requirement for entrance Turkey?
A: Yes, most nationalities require a visa to enter Turkey. Turkey is phasing out its stamp on arrival visa system, so it is important to have your visa before you arrive. Most nationalities can apply for an e-visa easily online in a matter of a few minutes. You can apply for your e-visa here. Mobile Phones in Turkey

Q: Can I use my mobile phone while I’m in Turkey?
A: Yes – providing your phone is international roaming enabled. The 3 main GSM operators in Turkey are Turkcell, Avea and Vodafone and all GSM operators have roaming agreements with international operators. It is a good idea to talk to your operator before leaving home to understand the costs associated with international roaming, and to find out how to minimise call costs while on roaming. It is also a good idea to turn off your data and use wi-fi, which is freely available in many hotels, restaurants and buses in Turkey.

Time Difference in Turkey
Q: What is the time difference?
A: Turkey recently made a decision to stay on daylight saving time all year round, and so it is on GMT +3. It is a good idea to check the local time when you arrive in Turkey and adjust your watch accordingly.

Money / Credit Cards
A: Is it possible to use my Credit Card in Turkey?
A: Credit cards are accepted in most shops and restaurants in the main cities or hotels areas. This may not be the case in smaller villages or remote places so it is generally a good idea to try always to have some cash (Turkish Lira) handy.

Can I change Money in Turkey ?

Packing
Q: What clothing should I bring for my Turkey trip ?
A: During the summer months (May‐September), you should bring casual, lightweight clothing. A shawl, sweater or light jacket is recommended for cooler evenings. In the spring/autumn (March‐April, October‐November), a wardrobe that allows layering for warmth is best. Lightweight woollens and a raincoat with zip‐out lining are suggested.

Bring comfortable walking shoes. If you will be hiking, over‐the‐ankle, Vibram‐soled hiking boots are required.

Jeans and slacks are acceptable, but you may wish to pack suitable clothing for evening events. Some restaurants in metropolitan areas require a tie and jacket for men.

If you are going to Cappadocia, and are planning to take a sunrise hot air balloon flight, you should take a warm jacket because the mornings can be cold. In winter it’s a good idea to have a hat and scarf for your balloon flight.

Q: What kind of electrical plugs / voltage are used in Turkey?
A: All appliances need a double round pin type plug for 220 volts AC, 50-hertz.

Yes. Many dishes in Turkey are vegetarian so it is generally easy to find vegetarian options. Please let us know at the time of booking that you are vegetarian.

Q: What do you mean by a “professional licensed tour guide”?
Taking a tour with the professional licensed guide is very important. Guides in Turkey study a mix of history, archaeology and mythology for 4 years in order to get their tour guiding license and pass special exams in language skills. All our company tour guides are professional licensed guides and expert in their regions. It is illegal for anyone who is not a licensed tour guide to conduct tours of historical sites in Turkey.
